Fuck Generations

Fuck Generations

At this year's re:publica conference in Berlin, Claudia Kefer and Holm Friebe from our team spoke under the title ‘Fuck Generations!’ about the nonsense of thinking in terms of generations and presented our approach to ‘vertical diversity’: Not only do we not discriminate according to gender, origin and sexual orientation, but also not according to age. Proof: Our youngest artist, Luke Velten, is 17, our oldest, Timm Ulrichs, has just turned 85. And that doesn't just apply to our artist portfolio. The more we get to know our target group, the more it becomes clear that tattoos are far too meaningful to be left to the young, especially when it comes to original works of art that can be given away or inherited three times over. Our market research based on anecdotal evidence speaks a clear language: there is a trend towards first tattoos among the over-50 target group - even if it is the sophisticated and ironic motif ‘I'LL NEVER GET A TATTOO’ by Daniele Sigalot, which is engraved on the skin and simultaneously affirms and negates one's own and widespread resentment, thus documenting ambiguity tolerance and mental flexibility even in old age.

At the launch party for Flight 2 in April 2025, our customer Daniela von Arnim gave herself a René Holm for her 60th birthday and had it engraved on the spot by our in-house tattoo artist Maya N. Dew. At the AMAZING! pop-up show at Irrgang Fine Art for Berlin Gallery Weekend, she followed this up with an Isabelle Borges. And by no means holds the age record. As far as we know, that record is held by a former bank boss aged 63, who has had the entire kit tattooed by Alicia Valladares in addition to the Sigalot and has already ordered more motifs.
