About Philip Grözinger
Philip Grözinger, born in Braunschweig in 1972, is a painter and draftsman with a highly distinctive and unmistakable style and an idiosyncratic set of themes that make him a unique figure in the Berlin art scene and far beyond. After studying at the Braunschweig University of Art, his beginnings lie in the club art of the 1990s, and since then he has steadfastly adhered to panel painting and representational art, defying all the trends that have swept through contemporary art since the 1990s. In doing so, he has transformed his childlike-inspired figurative universe into a narrative work otherwise only known from international Pop Art giants like Murakami or KAWS. Through an international gallery network, this unique position that Grözinger has cultivated is increasingly finding resonance with international collectors. His works are represented in important institutional and private collections. In addition to his teaching at art academies, Grözinger is also a tireless networker and driving force behind a vibrant Berlin art scene, curating group exhibitions and the SMAC project space in Berlin-Mitte.
Fun fact
As early as the 1990s, Philip Grözinger, together with the artist Fehmi Baumbach, also brought tattoos by artists to the skin in an art event series at the legendary White Trash in Berlin, thus inspiring the format Works on Skin.
