About Birte Bosse
Birte Bosse, born in 1984 in Gehrden, Germany, is a Berlin-based artist recognized for her inventive approach to sculpture, drawing, and installation. Growing up in Lower Saxony, Bosse developed a sensitivity to nature and the nuances of daily experience, elements that emerge throughout her work. She earned her Fine Arts diploma in 2012 from the University of Arts Braunschweig, studying under Professors Friedemann von Stockhausen, Thomas Rentmeister, and Bogomir Ecker, later becoming a master student of Ecker in 2013. Bosse is best known for translating lines into three-dimensional forms, shaping iron bars and metals into sculptures that appear as “oversized drawings,” melding precise structure with organic spontaneity. Her practice explores the relationship between ephemeral traces, subtle movements, and material transformation, often incorporating elements like ink, metal, soil, and found objects. Bosse has received residencies in Australia and Mexico, and her exhibitions span solo and group shows across Europe, with recent appearances at Arco Art Fair in Lisbon and public art commissions in Germany. Her artistic language, marked by a search for self-renewal and playful reflection, engages both the physical and conceptual boundaries of space and perception.

Fun fact
Birte Boss's nickname in the Berlin art scene is “Bibo” because those are her initials and she spreads cheer just like the big yellow bird from Sesame Street.
