“I'd been toying with the idea of getting a small tattoo for some time, but was unsure about the motif and motivation. When "Works on Skin" was presented on Arte in September 2024, I was intrigued by the idea of having a work of art tattooed on my skin. As a cat lover, "Familiar" by Charlie Stein was my first choice, not least because this work wasn't simply a realistic depiction of a black cat, but rather the art form of the black cat as a sculpture made of a material such as ceramic or metal—familiar yet foreign.”
