July 2, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.: Public funeral service for EVA
A pioneer of “vertical diversity” (and living proof that art offers a space to completely reinvent oneself and leave behind the pigeonholes of origin, gender identity and age) was EVA from EVA & ADELE. On May 21, we received the sad news of the death of one half of the performance couple, who hit the art world like a meteorite from the future 34 years ago and have been teaching us the practice of “FUTURING” ever since. It has taken a while for their tireless educational work to lead to great respect and recognition not only in the art world, but also in the art market. A photographic work of theirs now hangs in the permanent collection of the Hamburger Bahnhof, where a book of condolence for EVA is now also on display. For WORKS ON SKIN, EVA & ADELE contributed a found motif: a feminist jester's cap with high heels, the template for which they had discovered as a watermark in an antique piece of stationery. EVA signed the certificates while still in hospital, but nobody could have guessed that it would become her artistic legacy. The public funeral service and burial will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. Dorotheenstädter Friedhof Chapel, Chauseestr. 126, 10115 Berlin. The choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin will sing, longtime companions will speak. Followed by coffee and cake in the restaurant of the Hamburger Bahnhof. Meet us there and Future on!
