Ausweitung der Kunstzone

Ausweitung der Kunstzone

This came out of nowhere: Germany Radio's art correspondent Thorsten Jantschek has produced a great and commendable feature on edition art in Germany to mark the 100th anniversary of the Griffelkunst Association. It will be broadcast on November 7, but is already available in the media library. We are overjoyed and honored to be treated as equals to the giants on whose shoulders we stand: The Griffelkunst Association, from whom we adopted the idea of non-resalable editions for the people; René Block, who popularized the idea of democratic art in the 1970s with his Edition Block together with Klaus Staeck; and the friends at Handsiebdruckerei Editionen, who are doing fantastic pioneering work in their place. You're all in it, Käthe Kruse, Timm Ulrichs, René Holm, Daniela von Arneim, and last but not least, Lukas Troberg, whom Thorsten visits in the studio before he—spoiler alert!—gets his WORKS ON SKIN motif tattooed as his first tattoo ever!!! Fun fact: all the songs and sounds in the feature are by Michaela Melian, who is represented in an edition by both Griffelkunst and us. Congratulations to Griffelkunst on its 100th anniversary—that's quite an achievement. Congratulations to Thorsten Jantschek on this epic audio masterpiece and on his first tattoo, or rather permanent artwork! Art editions forever! Live with it!
